Congratulatory Message from Foreign Minister Kamikawa to David Cameron, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom

On November 15, following the appointment of The Rt Hon David CAMERON, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Ms. KAMIKAWA Yoko, Minister for Foreign Affairs, sent a congratulatory letter to Foreign Secretary Cameron.
- In the letter, Minister Kamikawa congratulated Foreign Secretary Cameron on his appointment, and noting that Japan-UK relations have seen dramatic developments in a wide range of areas including security, defense and economy during Foreign Secretary Cameron’s tenure as Prime Minister, she conveyed her intention to proactively cooperate with the Foreign Secretary to make the bilateral relationship between Japan and the UK even closer, as global strategic partners sharing basic values and principles, including following up on the “Japan-UK Hiroshima Accord” announced in May this year.
- Minister Kamikawa also mentioned her willingness to cooperate closely with Foreign Secretary Cameron to contribute to maintaining and strengthening the free and open international order based on the rule of law, including response to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and situations in the Middle East, as well as efforts toward realizing a "free and open Indo-Pacific".
