Courtesy call on Foreign Minister KAMIKAWA by H.E. Mr. Waleed SIAM, Ambassador, Representative, The Permanent General Mission of Palestine

On October 30th, commencing at 12:10 p.m. for approximately 20 minutes, Ms. KAMIKAWA Yoko, Minister for Foreign Affairs, received a courtesy call from H.E. Mr. Waleed SIAM, Ambassador, Representative, The Permanent General Mission of Palestine, to discuss the situation surrounding Palestine and Israel. The overview is as follows:

  1. At the outset, Minister Kamikawa stated that Japan has unequivocally condemned the recent terror attacks by Hamas and others, and that Japan has consistently called for (1) immediate release of hostages and securing safety of civilians, (2) all the parties to act based on international law and (3) calming down the situation as soon as possible. In response, Ambassdor Siam explained the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and stated that he is deeply concerned about a large number of civilian deaths in the Gaza Strip.
  2. Furthermore, Minister Kamikawa expressed her concern about the deteriotating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and reffered to Japan’s emergency assistance grant aid of USD 10 million in total. Ambassador Siam expressed his appreciation for Japan’s assisntance for the Strip.
  3. Minister Kamikawa and Ambassador Siam concurred to continue close communication toward stabilization of the region.
