Courtesy Call on State Minister for Foreign Affairs TSUJI by H.E. Mr. Evrard, Ambassador-Designate of the Kingdom of Belgium to Japan

On September 27, commencing at 2:00 p.m., for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. TSUJI Kiyoto, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call by H.E. Mr. Antoine Evrard, Ambassador-Designate of the Kingdom of Belgium to Japan. The overview of the meeting is as follows.
- At the outset, Ambassador-Designate Evrard congratulated State Minister Tsuji󠄀 on his appointment as State Minister. In response, State Minister Tsuji expressed his gratitude and conveyed his congratulations to the Ambassador-Designate on his arrival, and stated that as State Minister for Foreign Affairs, he would continue to work towards strengthening Japan-Belgium relations.
- State Minister Tsuji stated that Belgium is a strategic partner with shared values and principles, and that he would like to further develop the traditional friendship between the two countries, building on the close relationship between the royal and imperial families. They concurred to further strengthen Japan-Belgium relations.
- They exchanged views on Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and the situation in East Asia. State Minister Tsuji󠄀 also asked for understanding and cooperation regarding the release of ALPS treated water into the sea, and the Ambassador-Designate Evrard, expressed his understanding of Japan’s position and commended the Japanese authorities for providing information in a timely and transparent manner, as well as the effort to ensure safe discharges, with the continued involvement of the IAEA.
