On July 4, for about 15 minutes from 3:00 pm, Foreign Minister HAYASHI Yoshimasa received a courtesy call from Professor Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum during his visit to Japan. The overview of the meeting is as follows.

  1. Minister Hayashi stated it is a pleasure to see Professor Schwab again and that Japan, as the G7 Presidency in 2023, would continue to lead international discussions on various issues, and in this regard, he would like to continue to work closely with the World Economic Forum.
  2. Professor Schwab also expressed his pleasure at the reunion, expressing his gratitude for the longstanding cooperative relationship between Japan and the World Economic Forum and congratulated the success of the G7 Hiroshima Summit held in May. He also expressed his intent to strengthen cooperation with Japan with the Davos Forum in January next year in mind.
  3. Both sides exchanged views on generative AI and metaverse, thus confirmed the importance of fostering the next generation.
