Foreign Minister Hayashi Pays a Courtesy Call on His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

On April 10, commencing at 5:05 p.m. for about 20 minutes, Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Foreign Minister of Japan, paid a coutesy call on His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, who is visiting Japan as an official visit. The overview is as follows.

  1. At the outset, Minister Hayashi welcomed the visit of King Abdullah II and Queen Rania to Japan, and stated that Japan puts great importance on its relationship with Jordan, a cournerstone of peace and stability in the Middle East, and that Japan would like to further enhace Japan-Jordan relationship by taking advantage of the momentum gained by the visit this time. In response, King Abdullah II, expressing his gratitude for the warm hospitality extended by the Japanese side, stated that he was pleased to visit Japan again and was willing to utilize his visit to further deepen the bilateral relationship.
  2. Furthermore, they exchanged views on issues such as the situation in the Middle East including the one surrounding Israel and Palestine, the situation in Ukraine, as well as the one in East Asia including response to North Korea. They concurred on continued close cooperation toward peace and stability, both regional and global.
