Earthquake in the Republic of Türkiye

The Government of Japan expresses its heartfelt condolences to the victims and their families, and its sympathy to the injured people in Türkiye and neighboring countries such as Syria, where a large number of people were killed or injured by the massive earthquake that occurred in the southeastern part of Türkiye on February 6, 2023.
Japan expresses solidarity with the people of affected countries and endeavors to swiftly provide necessary assistance, through collaborating with international organizations, so that the affected people in Türkiye and Syria can overcome the hardships they are facing.
On February 6, at the request of the Turkish government, Japan dispatched Japan Disaster Relief (JDR) Rescue Team to Türkiye to conduct search and rescue operation. Japan will spare no effort to provide all possible assistance to the affected people.
