Foreign Minister Hayashi to Visit the Tohoku Region (“Local to Global” Project)

On December 11, Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, is scheduled to visit Miyagi Prefecture and Yamagata Prefecture, for the second round of the “Local to Global” Project that aims to promote the attractiveness of regional areas of Japan worldwide. The visit follows the visit to Nagasaki Prefecture in November of this year. During his visit, Minister Hayashi is also scheduled to be accompanied by Mr. TAKEI Shunsuke, State Minister for Foreign Affairs.
- In Miyagi Prefecture, where G7 Science and Technology Ministers’ Meeting will be held in May 2023, Minister Hayashi is to exchange views with the local government and members of the local business community regarding reconstruction from the Great East Japan Earthquake and promotion of the attractiveness of Miyagi.
- In Yamagata Prefecture, where Yamagata Youth Summit 2022 was held and has been eagerly nurturing global talent, Minister Hayashi is to hold a roundtable dialogue regarding Japan’s diplomacy and the promotion of the attractiveness of Yamagata with people, including youth, based in Yamagata who are actively contributing to a wide range of fields.
