Study Tour in Kumamoto for the Diplomatic Corps in Japan
September 6, 2022
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan will organize a Study Tour for the diplomatic corps stationed in Japan, jointly with Kumamoto City of Kumamoto Prefecture on September 12 and 13, 2022.
- The Study Tours have been conducted annually since fiscal year 2010 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with local governments or bodies in order to showcase regional attractions such as history, culture, tourism, local products, and industries to diplomatic corps stationed in Japan.
- The tour is focused on the reconstruction after the Kumamoto Earthquake in 2016 which caused massive damage to that area, and is programmed under the theme of “Recovering from the Kumamoto Earthquake & Building Our Future”. In this context, the diplomatic corps will visit various sites and learn about the activities fostered by the joint efforts of the public and private sectors toward the reconstruction.
- It is expected that this tour will provide the participants with an opportunity to deepen their understanding of the efforts made by Kumamoto for the reconstruction after natural disasters.
