The 31st Meeting of the Committee for the Promotion of the Declassification of Diplomatic Records

  1. On June 30th, the 31st meeting of the Committee for the Promotion of the Declassification of Diplomatic Records, headed by Mr. UESUGI Kentaro, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  2. At the meeting, the members of the Committee (PDF)Open a New Window discussed the declassification of diplomatic records, which are now 30 years old. Based on the review by the Committee, those records will be transferred to the Diplomatic Archives and be made public after completing necessary procedures for the release to the public.
  3. In addition, the members of the Committee had a final discussion on achievements in declassifying diplomatic records and challenges to be tackled for the next two years at the meeting.
