Ministerial Meeting of the Group of Friends of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) co-hosted by Minister for Foreign Affairs MOTEGI
- On October 8, Mr. MOTEGI Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs will co-host the Ministerial Meeting of the Group of Friends of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
- This meeting is aiming to discuss how to promote UHC in the context of COVID-19 response.
- Ministers of partner countries (Thailand, Georgia,etc.)and representatives from international organizations including H.E. Mr. António Manuel de Oliveira Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations will be present at this meeting.

[Reference] The Group of Friends of UHC
The Group of Friends of UHC was established in December 2018, facilitated by Japan. It serves as an informal platform for UN Member States to build momentum towards achieving UHC by 2030 worldwide as stated in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This Group has contributed to the adaptation of the Political Declaration of the High-level Meeting on Universal Health Coverage in September 2019. The Group has 64 member countries and areas and currently co-facilitated by Thailand and Georgia, in addition to Japan.
