Japan-France Foreign Ministers’ Telephone Talk

On June 10, commencing at around 10:30 p.m. for approximately 40 minutes, Mr. MOTEGI Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a telephone talk with H.E. Mr. Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic. The overview is as follows.
- Both ministers shared serious concern about the decision made by China’s National People’s Congress regarding policies toward Hong Kong and confirmed that they will coordinate closely through various frameworks including the G7.
- The two ministers also discussed the good relations between Japan and France, and shared the view to work together closely towards resuming bilateral exchanges, once the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has subsided.
