Parliamentary Vice-Minister Kenta Wakabayashi's visit to Colombia and Ecuador

  1. From May 21 to 26, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Kenta Wakabayashi will visit Colombia and Ecuador.
  2. In Colombia, Parliamentary Vice-Minister Wakabayashi is scheduled to attend the Summit and the Ministerial Meetings of the Pacific Alliance to be held in Cali, on behalf of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida. Japan has been attaching such importance to the relationship with the Pacific Alliance's member countries (Colombia, Chile, Peru and Mexico), which adopt open trade policies as to participate in this Alliance as an observer in January this year. Japan will further strengthen the relationship with the Pacific Alliance through these upcoming occasions.
  3. In Ecuador, as Ambassador on Special Mission from the Government of Japan, Parliamentary Vice-Minister Wakabayashi is scheduled to attend the Inauguration Ceremony of the next President Rafael Correa Delgado to be held in Quito on May 24. This attendance is being realized based on the traditional friendship between Japan and Ecuador.
