The Twelfth Japan-Cambodia Human Rights Dialogue

The 12th Japan-Kingdom of Cambodia Human Rights Dialogue was held on August 29 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

  1. The dialogue was led respectively by Mr. HASHIMOTO Naofumi, Ambassador for Human Rights and International Peace and Stability, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, and H.E. Mr. An Sokkhoeurn, Under Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia.
  2. During this dialogue, both countries exchanged views on efforts and measures on human rights topics such as freedom of political activities, expression, assembly and association, and the judicial reform and legal aid program, and the Japanese side raised the issues related to elections and civic space in Cambodia. Both countries also had discussions on the cooperation in the field of human rights in the international arena.
