Lifting of Import Restriction Measures on Japanese Food Products by the Swiss Confederation and the Principality of Liechtenstein

- On August 15, the Swiss Confederation completed its internal procedure for lifting import restriction measures on Japanese food products, following the European Union’s lifting the same measures, on August 3, introduced after the accident at TEPCO's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant in 2011.
- The Principality of Liechtenstein will introduce the Swiss measures in accordance with the Customs Union Treaty with the Switzerland.
- The Government of Japan welcomes the lifting of the measures by these countries, as it will encourage the reconstruction of the affected areas by the Great East Japan Earthquake.
