TAKEI Shunsuke, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, delivering a video message

On June 15, Mr. TAKEI Shunsuke, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, sent a video message on the occasion of the online Ministerial Meeting on Haiti chaired by Canada.

  1. State Minister TAKEI expressed his appreciation to Canada for holding this ministerial-level meeting, and stated that Japan will actively contribute to improving Haiti’s security and humanitarian situation as the G7 Presidency, a member of the UN Security Council and a longstanding partner of Haiti.
  2. State Minister TAKEI noted Japan’s support to ensure Haiti’s stability, including the contribution of approximately 3 million US dollars in support of the Haitian National Police and the provision of Emergency Grant Aid to counter the cholera outbreak as well as food assistance. He also commended the efforts of the Haitian government to achieve a comprehensive political agreement and encouraged an early implementation of the electoral process by promoting dialogue between political groups.
  3. Finally, State Minister TAKEI expressed his hope that the discussions in this meeting would contribute to further strengthening of the cooperation for peace and stability of Haiti as well as of the region as a whole.
