The 5th Japan-EU Cyber Dialogue

On Wednesday, November 22, the 5th Japan-EU Cyber Dialogue was held in Brussels, Belgium.

  1. Mr. ISHIZUKI Hideo, Ambassador in charge of Cyber Policy and Deputy Director-General of Foreign Policy Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (MOFA) led the Japanese delegation, and Ms. Joanneke BALFOORT, Deputy Managing Director for CSDP and Crisis Response, European External Action Service led the EU delegation, with the participation of officials from MOFA, National center of Incident readiness and Strategy for Cybersecurity (NISC), National Police Agency (NPA), Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Ministry of Defense (MOD), and JPCERT/CC on the Japanese side, and European External Action Service, European Commission, and Europol on the EU side.
  2. In this dialogue, the two sides exchanged views on various topics, such as cybersecurity strategy and policy, bilateral and multilateral cooperation including in the UN, and capacity building support.
  3. Both sides confirmed that they will continue to closely work together in the cybersecurity including through the Japan-EU Cyber Dialogue.
