The Signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation on Economic and Trade Relations between the Government of Japan and the State of Florida in the United States of America

 On October 12th, Mr. KOMURA Masahiro, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Honorable Cord Byrd, Secretary of the State of Florida, United States of America signed the Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) on Economic and Trade Relations.

  1. This MOC confirms that Japan and Florida intend to further cooperate in mutually beneficial areas, such as Infrastructure and Ground Transportation; Aerospace, Aviation and Defense; Logistics; Clean Energy and Sustainability; Life Sciences and Biotechnology; Academic Cooperation; and Sister Cities, Sister States and Sister Ports Partnerships.
  2. Japan and Florida share deep economic ties, and many Japanese companies have operations in the state, creating approximately 19,000 jobs. It is expected that the signing of this MOC will further deepen the good relationship between Japan and Florida.

This is the fifth similar MOC between the Government of Japan and a state of the United States, following the states of California, Washington, Maryland, and Indiana.
