Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF) Online Ministerial

Mr. YAMADA Kenji, State Minister for Foreign Affairs and Mr. NISHIMURA Yasutoshi, Minister for Economy, Trade and Industry, attended the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF) Ministerial held online on June 30. The overview of the meeting is as follows:
- The Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF) Ministerial was hosted by the Honorable Gina Raimondo, Secretary of Commerce of the United States of America, and attended by representatives from Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Republic of Fiji, India, Republic of Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Republic of Philippines, Republic of Korea, Republic of Singapore, Kingdom of Thailand, Socialist Republic of Vietnam and Japan.
- In the Ministerial, participants held discussions on tangible benefits of the IPEF Pillar III (Clean Economy) and Pillar IV (Fair Economy) in particular and State Minister Yamada stated that Japan will provide training and other assistance to IPEF members through ODA while emphasizing the significance of presenting tangible benefits to ensure inclusiveness.
- He also expressed his desire to contribute to the progress of the negotiations toward an early conclusion while continuing to closely coordinate with other IPEF partners.
