On June 28, Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, signed the Agreement on Film Co-production between the Government of Japan and the Government of the Italian Republic (“Japan-Italy Film Co-production Agreement”) with H.E. Mr. Gennaro Sangiuliano, Minister of Culture of the Italian Republic,who is visiting Japan.

  1. The Japan- Italy Film Co-production Agreementaims to strengthen exchanges between film production organizations of the two countries and to expand film co-productions between the two countries. The agreement stipulates that co-production films approved under this agreement are entitled to the full enjoyment of all thebenefits which are or may be accorded in Japan and in the Italian Republic respectively. Italy is the second countrywith which Japan signs a film co-production agreement.
  2. ​It is expected that the agreement promotes the entry of Japanese companies to the Italian film market through expansion of co-production between the two countries. The agreement is also expected to facilitate mutual understanding, to activate exchange of personnel between the film industries of the two countries, and promote mutual understanding between the people of bothcountries.
