U.S. Assistant Secretary Kritenbrink’s Visit to Japan

On June 20, Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Daniel Kritenbrink, who accompanied Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s visit to China, visited Japan on his way back to the U.S. and held a meeting with Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan MORI Takeo, Deputy Minister for Foreign Policy / Director-General for Foreign Policy Bureau ICHIKAWA Keiichi, and Director-General for Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau FUNAKOSHI Takehiro. The overview of the meeting is as follows.

Assistant Secretary Kritenbrink explained the outcomes of Secretary Blinken’s visit to China, and the both sides reaffirmed the continued cooperation between Japan and the U.S. including in addressing issues related to China.
The two sides also reaffirmed to further strengthen the multilayered cooperation between Japan and the U.S. in every field.
