Meeting between Foreign Minister Hayashi and Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine- Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine KUBRAKOV

On June 19, commencing at 4:00 p.m. for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Oleksandr KUBRAKOV, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine - Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine.
- At the outset, Minister Hayashi introduced outcomes of the G7 Hiroshima Summit, and mentioned that Japan will play its part as the G7 Presidency to ensure that the G7 members and the international community will maintain unity.
- Minister Hayashi expressed sympathy for and solidarity with people of Ukraine regarding the collapse of the dam at the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant and stated that Japan provides emergency humanitarian assistance in total of 5 million US dollars for residents affected by the flood as soon as possible. Minister Hayashi mentioned that Japan had just held 2nd meeting of the Council on Preparation for Promotion of Ukraine’s Economic Reconstruction today, and explained about Japan’s efforts to accelerate the recovery and reconstruction process. In response, Minister Kubrakov expressed his deep gratitude for Japan’s assistance to Ukraine.
- The two ministers exchanged views on the preparation status of the Ukraine Recovery Conference in London, and shared the view that the two countries continue close coordination to end Russia’s aggression as soon as possible and to achieve a robust reconstruction.
