Courtesy Call on Parliamentary Vice Minister YOSHIKAWA Yuumi by Representatives of the Ukrainian government and local communities

On May 15, commencing at 5:00p.m. for approximately 45 minutes, Ms. YOSHIKAWA Yuumi, Parliamentary Vice Minister, received a courtesy call from Mr. Igor Korkhovyi, Coordinator for Cooperation with Partners, The Ukrainian Restorative Office at the Ministry of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine and representatives of the Ukrainian government and local communities, during his visit to Japan. The overview of the meeting is as follows.

  1. Parliamentary Vice Minister Yoshikawa welcomed the representatives’ visit to Japan, and expressed her hope that Japan’s experience in recovery from the WWII and natural disasters such as Great East Japan Earthquake and Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake would be shared in Ukraine's recovery and reconstruction, thereby contributing to recovery and reconstruction in Ukraine.
  2. Coordinator Korkhovyi expressed their appreciation for Japan's assistance to Ukraine, and Parliamentary Vice Minister Yoshikawa concurred to continue to cooperate with Ukraine in recovery and reconstruction.

Coordinator Korkhovyi and other executives of the Ukrainian government and local communities came to Japan. The program is designed to share the experience in recovery from disasters and the WWII through the visit to Tokyo, Yokohama, Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe and Hiroshima, and to present the case study of city-planning that preserves historical/cultural heritage.
