Telephone Talk between Foreign Minister HAYASHI and The Honorable Gina Raimondo, the U.S. Secretary of Commerce

On Friday, April 28, commencing at 9:30 a.m. for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a telephone talk with The Honorable Gina Raimondo, Secretary of Commerce of the United States of America. The overview of the meeting is as follows.
- The two ministers exchanged views on the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF).
- Minister Hayashi emphasized the importance of ensuring inclusiveness, the active involvement of all IPEF partners for its success and confirmed Japan’s commitment to contributing to the progress of the framework. In response, Secretary Raimondo expressed appreciation for Japan’s support for the IPEF and her desire for continued collaboration.
- The two ministers concurred to continue to work closely together to demonstrate tangible outcomes of the IPEF.
