On December 24, commencing at 3:55 p.m.for approximately 40 minutes, Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Minister for Foreign Affairs, held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Sirojiddin MUHRIDDIN, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, who is visiting Japan to attend the 9th Foreign Ministers' Meeting of the "Central Asia plus Japan" Dialogue and a signing ceremony of the “Cooperation Program between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2023-2025”. The overview of the meeting is as follows.

  1. At the outset, Minister Hayashi stated that Japan has been supporting Tajikistan's nation-building for 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations through human resource development, infrastructure development, and other cooperations. He welcomed the fact that Tajikistan’s personnel who studied in Japan are playing active roles at various levels, including the ministerial level, and that Japan will continue to support the sustainable development of Tajikistan.
  2. Foreign Minister Mukhliddin conveyed his gratitude for the various assistance Japan has provided so far and expressed his interest in utilizing Tajikistan's human resources. The Ministers also agreed to hold the second meeting of the Japan-Tajikistan Intergovernmental Commission for Economic, Technological and Scientific Cooperation in the near future with the aim of revitalizing bilateral cooperation.
  3. The two Ministers exchanged views on international affairs, including Ukraine, Afghanistan, and East Asia, as well as cooperation in the international arena, and confirmed that they will continue to work closely together in various fields.
