Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF) Online Ministerial

Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Mr. NISHIMURA Yasutoshi, Minister for Economy, Trade and Industry, attended the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF) Ministerial held online on December 20. The overview of the meeting is as follows:
- The Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF) Ministerial was hosted by the Honorable Gina Raimondo, Secretary of Commerce of the United States of America, and attended by representatives from Australia, Brunei, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Japan.
- In the Ministerial, participants held discussions on tangible benefits of the IPEF, and Foreign Minister Hayashi pointed out the significance of presenting tangible benefits along with establishing high-standard rules and standards in developing the framework while ensuring inclusiveness and active engagement of all IPEF partners. He also expressed his desire to contribute to the ongoing negotiations while continuing to closely coordinate with other IPEF partners.
