The 12th Japan-Canada Political-Military (PM) Dialogue

On December 15th, the 12th Japan-Canada Political-Military (PM) Dialogue was held in Ottawa, Canada.

  1. The Japanese delegation was led by Mr. MIYAMOTO Shingo, Deputy Director General, North American Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. MIURA Jun, Director General for International Affairs, Bureau of Defense Policy, Ministry of Defense. The Canadian delegation was led by Mr. Weldon Epp, Director General, North East Asia, Global Affairs Canada, Mr. Kevin Hamilton, Director General, International Security Policy, Global Affairs Canada, and Major General Greg Smith, Director General for International Security Policy, Department of National Defence.
  2. They exchanged views on a variety of issues, including Japan-Canada security and defense cooperation and regional situations. They concurred to further strengthen cooperation toward realizing a “Free and Open Indo Pacific (FOIP).”
