Congratulatory Message from Foreign Minister Hayashi to James Cleverly, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs

  1. On October 27, following the reappointment of the Rt Hon James Cleverly MP as Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Minister for Foreign Affairs, sent a congratulatory letter to Foreign Secretary Cleverly.
  2. In the letter, Minister Hayashi congratulated Foreign Secretary Cleverly on his reappointment and stated he intends to further strengthen the cooperation towards realizing a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” with the UK, as global strategic partners sharing fundamental values.
  3. Minister Hayashi also stated that he hoped to closely cooperate with the UK within the G7 under Japan’s presidency and the UN Security Council, where Japan will serve as a non-permanent member next year.
