Courtesy Call on Vice Minister Mori by U.S. Under Secretary of State Nuland

On July 25, Mr. MORI Takeo, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call from Ambassador Victoria Nuland, U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, who is visiting Japan. The overview of the meeting is as follows.
- At the outset, Under Secretary Nuland expressed her deepest condolences on the passing of former Prime Minister Abe. The two sides concurred to continue working closely together toward further strengthening the Japan-U.S. Alliance and realizing a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific,” carrying on the legacy of former Prime Minister Abe.
- The two sides discussed a wide range of topics including the Japan-U.S. relationships and regional issues, and confirmed to continue working closely together, including discussions for the next year’s G7 Hiroshima Summit, to which Japan holds the presidency.
