The First Meeting of the Japan-U.S. Partnership on Trade
On March 1, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and Office of the United States Trade Representative held the first meeting of the Japan-U.S. Partnership on Trade. Director General Ono Keiichi from the Economic Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Director General Matsuo Takehiko from the Trade Policy Bureau of the Ministry of Econoomy, Trade and Industry, and Assistant U.S. Trade Representative Michael Beeman from the Office of the United States Trade Representative attended the meeting. From the viewpoint of strengthening the Japan-U.S. trade cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region as well as Japan-U.S. cooperation on global agenda, they discussed a third country’s trade practices, environment, labor, digital and trade facilitiation. They also exchanged views on bilateral trade issues.
