Foreign Minister Hayashi summons Mr. Mikhail Y. GALUZIN, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Japan

On February 24, after receiving information about Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine, Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi summoned Mr. Mikhail Y. GALUZIN, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Japan and stated the following points:
- Russia's invasion of Ukraine is nothing but an infringement of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and is clearly a violation of international law.
- Unilateral change of the status quo by force is absolutely unacceptable, and Japan strongly condemns the invasion.
- Russia should immediately stop the invasion of Ukraine and withdraw its forces back to Russia.
- At the same time, Japan strongly urges that the safety of civilians, including Japanese citizens, and of third-country citizens should be protected unconditionally.
