Video Message by State Minister for Foreign Affairs for the Signing Ceremony of the Declaration of Municipal Partnership for Hydrogen Advancement of Smart Sister Cities between Namie Town, Fukushima and Lancaster, California

On October 1 (Japan time), Mr. WASHIO Eiichiro, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, sent a video message to the Signing Ceremony of the Declaration of Municipal Partnership for Hydrogen Advancement of Smart Sister Cities between Namie Town, Fukushima and Lancaster, California held in an online format.
- In the video message, State Minister Washio expressed his respect to the municipal partnership and stated that the Japan-U.S. relations is supported by partnerships between local governments and businesses run by private-sector companies. State Minister Washio introduced Japanese companies’ contributions to job creation in the United States as well as green projects across the United States, including hydrogen-related projects.
- State Minister Washio also expressed his wishes that the Signing Ceremony would be able to contribute to further strengthening the Japan-U.S relations as the wide-ranging bilateral cooperation is ongoing to address climate change.
On October 1, Namie Town, Fukushima and Lancaster, California signed the Declaration of Municipal Partnership for Hydrogen Advancement of Smart Sister Cities between Namie Town, Fukushima and Lancaster, California to pursue hydrogen as a pathway to decarbonization.
