  1. Japan welcomes the reappointment of H.E. Mr. António Manuel de Oliveira Guterres as the Secretary-General of the United Nations.
  2. Japan appreciates the leadership that Secretary-General Guterres has exhibited since his appointment across a wide range of fields, including international peace and security, responding to COVID-19, climate change and sustainable development.
  3. Japan will continue to cooperate closely with Secretary-General Guterres in resolving various issues facing the international community and in carrying out reforms of the United Nations, including the Security Council.
