Minister for Foreign Affairs MOTEGI Toshimitsu attended the high-level meeting on financing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the era of COVID-19 and beyond
On September 29, from 8:00 a.m. (New York time), a high-level meeting on financing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the era of COVID-19 and beyond was held online, and Mr. MOTEGI Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, attended and delivered a statement.

1. At the meeting, Minister Motegi stated it is crucial to deal with the COVID-19 under the concept of human security in order to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and outlined measures of the support by the Government of Japan for developing countries.
2. In addition, Minister Motegi emphasized the importance of further mobilizing private resources through ESG investment and Impact investment in the post-COVID-19 era and stated that Japan will accelerate its efforts towards achieving the SDGs.
3. Over 40 heads of state or goverment and approximately 10 minister of Member States, heads of international organizations such as IMF and World Bank, as well as other stakeholders related to financing for sustainable development attended the meeting. Participants expressed respective views on economic recovery policies for developing countries affected by the COVID-19.
