Message from Foreign Minister MOTEGI Toshimitsu on Eid al-Fitr

On May 23, Mr.MOTEGI Toshimitsu, Foreign Minister of Japan issued the following cancel the Iftar reception, which is hosted in Holy month of Ramadan every year for Muslim diplomatic corps in Tokyo and other guests, due to the outbreak of COVID-19 and the following declaration of the state of emergency in Japan.

1. We would like to extend our best wishes to all Muslims in Japan and around the world upon Eid al-Fitr.

2. In addition, we would like to express our respect to all Muslims who are making great efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.

3. We highly value our relations of trust with Muslim countries, and we have strengthened the relations in various fields such as politics, security, economy and culture. While we are facing the global crisis, namely the pandemic of COVID-19, we would like to cooperate closely with the international community including all Muslims in order to overcome this challenge, and further deepen the cordial relationships with Muslim countries.

4. On this occasion of Eid al-Fitr, we would like to express our solidarity with Muslim friends, and wish for early convergence of COVID-19, as well as your health and happiness.
