1. On May 7, the Iraqi Council of Representatives approved 15 ministers among the Cabinet Ministers' list submitted by Prime Minister-designate Mr. Mustafa Al- Kadhimi, and the new cabinet headed by Prime Minister Al-Kadhimi was formed.

2. The Government of Japan welcomes the formation of the new cabinet in Iraq, appreciates the efforts by the various political parties in Iraq and hopes that the vacant ministerial positions will be filled as soon as possible. The Government of Japan also expects that the new cabinet will promptly and appropriately address various issues, including the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), in a manner that will broadly gain trust from the Iraqi people.

3. he Government of Japan will cooperate with the new cabinet with a view to further enhancing bilateral relations and tackling the various challenges in the Middle East.
