Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Initiative (NPDI),
10th Ministerial Meeting

1. On Saturday, November 23, the Government of Japan will host the 10th Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Initiative (NPDI) in Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture. The Ministerial Meeting will be held on the margin of the G20 Aichi-Nagoya Foreign Ministers’ MeetingOpen a New Window that Japan will host under its G20 Presidency.

2. At the NPDI Ministerial Meeting, as a group of non-nuclear weapon states with various views, we aim to discuss matters such as the importance of maintaining and strengthening the implementation of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) as well as the value of transparency. The aim of these discussions will be to contribute to the meaningful outcome of the NPT Review Conference in 2020, which marks the 10th anniversary of the NPDI’s establishment and the 50th anniversary of the NPT’s entry-into-force.
