Meeting between State Minister for Foreign Affairs WAKAMIYA Kenji and Mr. Francesco La Camera, Director-General of IRENA (International Renewable Energy Agency)
On March 4th at 11:15 am, State Minister for Foreign Affairs WAKAMIYA Kenji had a meeting for approximately 30 minutes with Mr. Francesco La Camera, Director-General of IRENA, during his visit to Japan. An overview of the meeting is as follows.
1. State Minister Wakamiya congratulated Mr. La Camera for the successful conclusion of the 10th IRENA Assembly in January, and stated that Japan will continuously coordinate with IRENA for promoting and accelerating the usage of renewable energy including the importance of tackling with the future issue of disposal of large amount of equipment related to renewable energy, which State Minister Wakamiya raised at the last IRENA Assembly.
2. In response, Director-General La Camera appreciated Japan’s contribution to IRENA, and stated that IRENA hopes Japan’s cooperation to the promotion and acceleration of the usage of the renewable energy in Asia, Africa and SIDS (Small Island Developing State), touching upon the issue of disposal of large amount of equipment which Japan is pointing out.
