Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi received a courtesy call from Her Excellency Mrs. Mary Robinson, Chair of The Elders, for 25 minutes from 11:30 am on October 7th.
1. Minister Motegi expressed apprication for their courtesy call in the opening remarks, and reiterated his hope for their role of the civil society would take a leading role in climate actions.
2. They exchanged views in the subsequent discussion on various topics including nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation iand further climate actions.

The Elders is the NGO founded by late Nelson Mandela in 2007. The members including former head of states and former UN Secretary General promote various activities through political advocacy at high level on the global issues such as peace, injustice and human rights.
