Visit to Japan by His Excellency Professor Tijjani Muhammad-Bande, President-elect of the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly
1. H.E. Professor Tijjani Muhammad-Bande, President-elect of the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly, will visit Japan on the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from Sunday, July 21 to Thursday, July 25, 2019.
2. During his stay in Japan, the President-elect is scheduled to have meetings with Mr. Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan and Mr. KONO Taro, Minister for Foreign Affairs.
3. It is expected that this visit to Japan by the President-elect will promote the various international contribution initiatives that Japan is pursuing at the United Nations and strengthen the cooperative relationship between Japan and the United Nations.

The President-elect H.E. Professor Tijjani Muhammad-Bande was born in the Federal Republic of Nigeria and has served as the Director-General of Centre African de Formation et de Recherche Administratives pour le Développement (CAFRAD), in Morocco, the Vice-Chancellor of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Nigeria, Director-General of Nigeria’s National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, and Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations. H. E. Professor Muhammad-Bande was elected as the President of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly on June 4 this year at the UN General Assembly. His term as President of the UN General Assembly will run from September 2019 until September 2020.
