The 17th East Asia Forum (EAF)
1. The 17th East Asia Forum (EAF) will be held on June 11th. Mr. Kazunori Suzuki, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, will host a welcome reception for the participants of the Forum in the evening of June 10th.
2. Parliamentary Vice-Minister Suzuki will deliver opening remarks at the beginning of the Forum as well as representatives of business, government and academic circles from ASEAN+3 (Japan, China, Korea) countries will attend the Forum.
3. In this East Asia Forum, the pariticipants will discuss under the theme of “Bolstering Free and Open Economy in East Asia”

The East Asia Forum consists of representatives of business, governments and academic circles from ASEAN+3 countries, establishment of which was approved by the leaders at the ASEAN+3 Summit in 2002. It makes policy recommendations to the governments of ASEAN+3 countries for advancing East Asian cooperation with an aim to contributing toward promotion of the East Asian cooperation and production of a sense of consolidation of the East Asia.
