Foreign Minister Taro Kono received a courtesy call from Major General Kamil Abu Rukun, Coordinator of Israeli Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT)
On February 26, Maj. Gen. Kamil Abu Rukun, Coordinator of Israeli Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), paid a courtesy call to Mr. Taro Kono, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, commencing at 15:20 for approximately 20 minutes. The overview of the courtesy call is as follows;
1. Foreign Minister Kono first expressed his appreciation for Maj. Gen. Kamil Abu Rukun’s visit to Japan, despite difficult situation surrounding the Gaza Strip. He also said that 14 companies have already started operating in Jericho Agricultural Industrial Park (JAIP), which is the flagship project under “Corridor for Peace and Prosperity” Initiative, and Japan will continue supporting Palestine in cooperation with Israel.
2. In response, Maj. Gen. Kamil Abu Rukun expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by Japan. In this regard, he also expressed that Israel will continue cooperating in various fields.
3. They exchanged views on the situation in and surrounding the Gaza Strip, and confirmed their continued coordination including responses for humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.
