Message of condolences from Foreign Minister Taro Kono following the terrorist attack
in the Northern Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir

  1. On February 15, following the terrorist attack in the Northern Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, Mr. Taro Kono, Foreign Minister of Japan sent the following message of condolences to H.E. Ms. Sushma Swaraj, Minister of External Affairs of India.

    “I extend my sincere condolences to those who lost their lives and their bereaved families in the terrorist attack carried out in Pulwama of Jammu and Kashmir on February 14th. Such act of terrorism cannot be justified for any reason and Japan firmly condemns it. Japan expresses its solidarity with India in combatting terrorism.”

    On February 14, in the Northern Indian state Jammu and Kashmir, Pulwama, a car carrying explosives crashed into a convoy of Indian security forces, killing at least 44 personnel. The “Jaish-e-Mohammad” militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
