Parliamentary Vice-Minister Kiyoto Tsuji received a courtesy call from
Mr. Goldy Hyder, President & CEO of the Business Council of Canada (BCC)

On February 12, commencing at 15:50 for 40 minutes, Mr. Kiyoto Tsuji, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs received a courtesy call from Mr. Goldy Hyder, President & CEO of the Business Council of Canada (BCC). The overview of the meeting is as follows.

1. At the beginning, Mr. Tsuji welcomed Mr. Hyder to Japan and expressed his hope that this visit would provide an opportunity to deepen the economic relationship between Japan and Canada. Mr. Tsuji also said that Japan would like to cooperate with Canada to spread free and fair common rules around the world.

2. In response, Mr. Hyder expressed his expectation that Japan would play a leading role during the G20 presidency and that Canada and Japan should strengthen the mutually beneficial trade and investment relationship, taking advantage of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).

3. They also exchanged views on promotion various issues including of people-to-people exchanges and the current international situation.

【Reference】Mr. Hyder’s visit to Japan
Mr. Hyder is visiting Japan from February 10 to February 15 with the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. Mr. Hyder meets Japanese business groups and visits private companies, to deliver lectures and exchange views. The Business Council of Canada (BCC) is one of the major business groups composed of CEOs of approximately 150 Canadian leading companies.
