ARF-ISM on ICTs Security 3rd SG
1. On January 29, the ARF-ISM on ICTs Security (ARF Inter-Sessional Meeting on Security of and in the Use of Information and Communication Technologies) 3rd open ended Study Group (SG) on Confidence Building Measures was held in Singapore, co-chaired by Japan (the director of space and cyber policy division), Malaysia and Singapore.
2. This expert-level meeting was held to develop specific proposals on confidence building measures as well as proposals to address the whole range of issues on ICTs Security and submit these proposals to the ARF ISM on ICTs Security, which will be held this March.
3. At this 3rd SG, the participants exchanged their views on regional and global ICT landscape and their efforts and initiatives. They had also discussions on possible confidence building measures which should be promoted in the future.
4. Furthermore, in light of the fact that the United Nations Group of Governmental Experts (GGE), supposed to be established this year, will collaborate with regional framework including ARF to convene a series of consultations in advance of its sessions, the participants exchanged their perspectives on the role of ARF in this regard.
