  1. Following the terror attack in Jolo, Sulu, the Philippines on January 27, Foreign Minister Taro Kono sent the following message to H.E. Mr. Teodoro L. Locsin Jr., Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines on January 29.

    “I firmly condemn the horrible terror attack that occurred in Jolo, Sulu, on January 27 that caused numerous casualties.
    Such terror attack will never be condoned whatever the reason is. On behalf of the Government and people of Japan, I would like to pray for the deceased, and express my heartfelt sympathy to the injured and their families.
    Japan stands with Filipino people who have been longing for peace and stability in Mindanao. Japan is committed to assisting Mindanao in accordance with the ongoing Mindanao Peace Process.”
