Japan Climate Initiative’s courtesy call on Foreign Minister Taro Kono


Foreign Minister Taro Kono received a courtesy call from Japan Climate Initiative (JCI), for 30 minutes from 11:30 am on October 1st.
1. Minister Kono stated his hope that the Government and non-state actors may interact with each other in a constructive manner, leading to a virtuous cycle to strengthen Japanese response to strengthen Japanese response to climate change. He wished the JCI well on its role, and looked forward to cooperation with it.
2. The JCI members, on their part, encouraged further actions from the Government on climate change, with high hope on the forthcoming Long-Term Strategy. They also expressed their determination to remain strenuously engaged in tackling climate change, which was further elaborated in the following discourse with Minister Kono.
