  1. On August 20, following news of the passing on August 18 of H.E. Mr. Kofi Annan, former Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan, sent a message to H. E. Mr. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana, and Mr. Taro Kono, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, sent a message to Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of the Republic of Ghana, that expressed their condolences as well as their deepest respect for the achievement of the former Secretary-General of the United Nations.
