Foreign Minister Taro Kono received a courtesy call from Japan Climate Leaders’ Partnership (Japan-CLP), for 20 minutes from 5:40 pm on May 10th.

1. Minister Kono expressed appreciation for the supporting statement issued by Japan-CLP in the opening remarks, Minister Kono reiterated his hope that Japan-CLP would take a leading role in improving the international competitiveness of Japanese business through promotion of climate change measures.

2. In response, the Japan-CLP members stated that they will continue to actively address climate change measures. The participants exchanged their views in the subsequent discussion.

Japan-CLP is a business coalition aiming to realize sustainable carbon-free society and consists of Japanese companies taking the lead on climate change issues. On April 19, Japan-CLP delivered the statement to support the recommendations about climate change diplomacy submitted by the Advisory Panel on Climate Change.
