1. The 5th Japan-Pakistan High-Level Economic Policy Dialogue was held in Islamabad on April 26, 2018.

2. Mr. Kazuyuki Yamazaki, Senior Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, and Syed Ghazanfar Abbas Jilani, Secretary of Economic Affairs Division represented respective sides. Officials from related Ministries and agencies also attended the meeting.

3. In the meeting, Mr. Yamazaki requested Pakistan side to improve the investment environment and expressed his intention to make the best efforts to introduce Pakistan market to Japanese companies, and both side exchanged views on issues such as current state and issue of the Pakistan’s economy, trade and investment between Japan and Pakistan, measures to strengthen bilateral economic relations and to promote investment and export, and economic cooperation. In particular, both sides shared the intention to continue to cooperate in three priority areas to strengthen Pakistan export industry; (1) access to international markets, (2) competitiveness, and (3) diversification.
