Cyber Workshop UK and Japan with ASEAN in Brunei
1. The Governments of Japan and the UK co-hosted Cyber Workshop on February 22, 2018 in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam. Experts from the Government of Japan as well as the UK and private sector attended it. Governmental officials and experts in charge of cybersecurity from ASEAN member counties also attended.
2. Participants from Japan and the UK introduced their efforts on the promotion of the rule of law in cyberspace, Convention of Cybercrime, Internet governance under multi-stakeholder approach, free flow of information and digital economy, and examples of cybersecurity agencies. They also had discussions with participants from ASEAN countries on these issues.
3. This Workshop was convened given that Japan and the UK had confirmed that two countries would further promote collaboration in cyber security during Japan-U.K. Summit Meeting held in August last year.
